Urban Pekle was born on the 14th of January. The same day David Bowie's Low was released and to this day Urban has not found a way to appreciate it. On the other hand, he does not hide his love for the defining movie of 1977, Smokey and the Bandit. Maybe dropping out of college is part of his perfectionism. He writes, directs, produces, edits and pain-in-the-ass-stakingly colour corrects (yes, he prefers Lyne’s Lolita to Kubrick’s). That doesn’t mean he is not a team player or that he doesn’t like to go for a long ride. It’s not the free time, in which he doesn’t believe anyway, it’s the mode of life that demands of him to keep on improving his grip on photography, graphic design, typography or backhand. It’s the admiration of the form, and you can’t drop out of that.
